Dr Lauren Hall is a multidisciplinary artist, researcher, teacher and advocate whose practice sits at the intersection of performance, social justice and disability arts. Their work is practice-led and people-centred, grounded in collaboration, access and the belief that creative practice can help to amplify voices, challenge assumptions and imagine more inclusive futures.

Artist
Lauren’s performance and artistic practice is grounded in community. Drawing on applied theatre, devised performance and dramaturgy, they work collaboratively to create spaces where people’s experiences, perspectives and knowledge can be centred. Their practice is concerned with amplifying voices that are often marginalised, while questioning who performance is for, who gets to participate and how creative work can be made more accessible.

Researcher
Lauren’s research is led by questions of access and inclusion, with a particular interest in interdependence, co-creation and new structures of working. They explore how artists, communities and organisations can work together more equitably, moving beyond individualised or deficit-based understandings of access. Through practice-led and creative research methodologies, Lauren investigates ways of sharing power, valuing lived experience and developing more responsive approaches to collaboration.

Teacher
Lauren’s teaching is creative, playful and rooted in dialogue. They support students to explore performance-making, community practice and collaborative approaches through experimentation, reflection and embodied learning. Lauren is currently based at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where they lecture on the Arts with Community course. Their teaching encourages students to think critically about participation, ethics, access and the relationships between artists and the communities with whom they work.
